Colour Sits Comfortably With Origin
Origin design and manufacture colourful and contemporary chairs for the contract, workplace and educational environments. As a design-led company, Origin develop bold chairs and needed a masterbatch supplier who shared their passion for colour whilst appreciating their requirement to deliver a product that can withstand the demands of everyday life in high traffic environments such as schools and restaurants and still look vibrant and fresh.

Matching The Spectrum
With Origin’s POP and Lotus chairs adorning prestigious and diverse establishments, including Oxford University, The Tate Liverpool and numerous eateries across the UK and beyond, every chair produced has to meet exacting standards for visual and ergonomic appeal. Some chairs are also destined for outdoor use in distinctly different environments such as the funky outdoor rooftop cinema at The Queen of Hoxton (London). Nick was pleased when Eclipse was able to share some of their technical acumen to minimise the production-related issues associated with their previous supplier’s masterbatch, which had been susceptible to ‘burning’.

Nick expanded on Origin’s need for colour consistency by saying “Some environments, such as a canteen or auditorium might need several hundred chairs compacted into one space – they’ve all got to look the same to create the right colour impact. Also customers might call us at a later date for additional chairs to add to an existing set so consistency between subsequent masterbatch is also an important factor.” Eclipse keeps colour plaques for every client to ensure that colours stay true and precise over time, from the first batch produced to the latest.
Working In Partnership
Once the 12 signature Origin colours had been matched, the appropriate combinations added, and the masterbatches produced and delivered to Origin, the working relationship continues with Eclipse offering on-going technical support to ensure their product delivers the best value back to Nick and his business.
